Why We Made the Change
Caravanners are spending longer on the road, travelling further off the beaten track, and expecting more from their rigs than ever before. The previous fridge specification simply couldn’t keep up. The Thetford 221L was the clear upgrade for three key reasons:
What 221L Actually Looks Like
To put that capacity in perspective: 221 litres is enough for roughly 200 canned drinks, a full week’s worth of meal-prepped containers, fresh produce, condiments, and still have room to spare. The Thetford design features adjustable shelving, a dedicated crisper drawer, and a separate freezer compartment — all designed to stay organised even when you’re bouncing down corrugated outback tracks.

A caravan fridge in a European summer is a very different challenge to one baking in the Kimberley in January. Thetford engineers their compressor units to operate reliably in ambient temperatures up to 43°C, so whether you’re parked in coastal shade or baking in outback sun, your food stays cold and safe. Combined with your caravan’s solar and battery setup, the 221L Thetford runs quietly and efficiently overnight.
